OPEN Level
The open player typically has had intensive training for national tournament competition at the collegiate and semi-professional levels and has obtained a regional and/or national ranking.

AA Level
This player has developed power and/or consistency as a major weapon. This player can vary strategies and styles of play in a competitive situation and hits dependable shots in a stress situation.  

A Level
This player has begun to master the use of power and shots and is beginning to handle pace, has sound footwork, can control depth of shots, and is beginning to vary game plan according to opponents.  This player has significantly more successful actions then errors.  This player is not afraid of and can digs the hits of a A/AA player.

BB Level
This player has achieved improved ball control, dependability with directional control on moderate shots, but still lacks depth and variety. This player exhibits more aggressive net play, has improved court coverage, and is developing defensive strategy.  This player also at least understands in theory the different offensive and defensive systems.

B Level
More advanced than the C player, B players are quickly learning to judge where the ball is going although court coverage is weak. This player may also sustain a short rally of slow pace with other players of the same ability.

C Level
This player has little or no experience with playing in tournaments. He/she is still working primarily on getting the ball into play and needs on-court experience. This player has obvious weaknesses in controlling the ball but is familiar with basic fundamentals of passing, setting, hitting and serving.
